Toki Tori Take Two!
Games | | April 10, 2008 @ 12:00 CET

Today is a good day. Today is the day we finally announce Toki Tori for Nintendo's WiiWare™ service. We have been working on this updated version of Toki Tori for a long time now, and it's great to be able to properly announce it. I hope you all like what we've done with the game.

Toki Tori was our first game at Two Tribes, and marked the start of our transition from being a homebrew developer to becoming a professional game developer. We spent a massive amount of time on the original Toki Tori, which was fortunately picked up by Capcom for distribution in 2000.

When Toki Tori was finally released in September 2001, it got great reviews in the specialist press, but failed to be a true sales success. Releasing a game for Game Boy Color after the much-hyped launch of the Game Boy Advance probably hurt the perceived value of the game. We've always felt that Toki Tori is a quality title that deserves a bigger audience, hence the decision to create a version for WiiWare.

In the coming weeks we will be placing log entries which go a bit more in depth into the design behind the game and it's adaptation to a bigger screen and different control scheme.

For now feel free to check out our just-released screenshots on the Toki Tori game page.

Hello,

Well, we are waiting for in depth design comments ! What about writing something like "Iwata asks", but from inside Two Tribes ?
I'm sure it will help players get interested in Toki Tori.

Best regards,
Flam.

PS: well, one message per year on this log, I'll come back in 2009 !

I love Toki Tori, thanks for making such a wonderful game. It feels that the developers enjoy, and love the game.

Carlos I agree in the most. Two tribes after the Ipod touch game could you make a full wii game (that would be awesome) : )
